We Stand with Israel

As nearly everyone knows, there was an evil, brutal and senseless attack on Israel this past weekend. At the moment the dead number more than 1,000 and the count is likely to rise as the days go on.

Those who are more mature in Jesus Christ know that we don't wrestle with flesh and blood but evil forces in the unseen realm. Nonetheless the human tragedy, horror and pain suffered in Israel caused by this evil is reported to be the worst atrocities against Jews since the holocaust.

God loves geeks too!
Why Jesus?

When I first heard about what happened, the news source I heard it from made it sound like one of the many skirmishes that seem to regularly happen between Israel and terrorists. I didn't know the full story of this latest attack until I watched an Orthodox Jew's news program that showed video of horrific and utterly evil acts done to Jewish people in Israel during this attack. The terrorists that attacked Israel were so proud and brazen that they recorded and broadcast these atrocities. Babies, children, men and women were slaughtered, mutilated and kidnapped. Babies -- I just can't understand that depth of evil -- whatever evil seeks to kill so many babies through abortion every year inflicts just as much pain and death as these terrorists who partnered with evil.

When horrific things like this happen, my flesh cries out, wanting to see punishment and fierce judgement carried out against those who commit such heinous acts. I have to remember that repaying evil with evil is against what Jesus taught, and while I will obey my Lord, my heart has been overwhelmed with grief from this attack on Israel that only the Lord can heal.

As my beautiful wife has said, acts like this reveal 'the dividing line' -- we can clearly see who is for, and who is against God. I just shake my head when I see news reports of protests around the world, defending and supporting the perpetrators instead of siding with Israel. It also frustrates and saddens me when I see those in U.S. government who utter hateful remarks about Israel and Jews. Yes, God is love, but he is also a consuming fire. Those who have made the choice to partner with evil will find themselves in a very bad spot unless they realize the error of their ways then turn away from destruction and toward Jesus.

No, no group of human beings will ever be perfect and no one on this earth has perfect wisdom, but there is absolutely zero justification for the wholesale attack, slaughter and mutilation of people 'just because you hate them'. While I personally dislike war and armed conflicts, it doesn't seem unusual or wildly evil to defend your country or respond with force after an attack, especially an attack as evil and horrific as this.

Our love, prayers and hearts go out to every person, family and community affected by these evil acts as we stand by -- and pray for -- Israel.

God bless you, and thank you for reading.

About me
First and foremost I'm a follower of Jesus Christ. After that, I'm a blessed husband, father and grandfather. I do remote computer work for a living although it's mostly part-time. I'm an amateur radio operator - AF7EC. When I'm not working on the endless list of house and car projects, I like to tinker with electronics, like to listen to shortwave radio and write software (mostly open-source) in C, C++, Python and Free Pascal. I usually run Linux as my main operating system but sometimes I'm forced to endure macOS and Windows 11 for gaming with my son or testing software. Overall, I am a big nobody, but always willing to share about Jesus and all that God has done for me and my family.
